The ROSE-L team at Airbus have chosen to use a logo designed by Mint Design Studio for their satellite project.
The team at Airbus in Portsmouth are part of a European effort to develop and build ROSE-L which will be equipped with the largest ‘planar space radar antenna’ ever built at 11 metres by 3.6 metres (roughly 10 ping-pong tables). It’s a project worth around €190 million. The launch is planned for 2027 when the Copernicus ROSE-L mission will carry an active phased array synthetic aperture radar instrument.
From its 690 km polar orbit ROSE-L will provide day-and-night monitoring of land, oceans and ice, providing important data on soil moisture, precision farming, food security, forest biomass, changes to land use and will monitor polar ice sheets and ice caps, sea ice extent and snow cover.
